This is from The Return of Optimus Prime, part 2. Rodimus is infected by the hate plague and is not cooperating so Optimus slugged him a good one.

While Oppy isn't my fave, I give credit where credit is due: Prime does even stuff he hates with commitment. He hit Rodimus *hard.*

A scene from the classic Transformers cartoon. So nostalgic. I totally remember "The Return of Optimus Prime" with the spore plague occuring due to the carelessness of two bumbling scientists. I for one was actually glad to have seen this episode. And I admit that I was quite relieved when Optimus had returned from the dead to resume his role as leader. Rumor has it that this concept probably inspired a similar hate plague from the movies 28 Days Later and it's sequel 28 Weeks Later.

That's true if Hot Rod hadn't blocked his shot, Prime would've survived and probably destroyed Unicron.

But it did give Hot Rod the chance to become a leader, just like Cheetor at the end of Beast Machines.
